Is Chamber of Commerce membership mandatory for a business visa?

Two routes are open — a recommendation letter from the chamber or business association, or a copy of current membership there. If you can obtain a recommendation letter without being a member, that is acceptable too.
Two points to note. The body must be a recognised chamber or business association. And if you rely on membership, it must be current — expired membership papers do not meet the requirement.
Renewing membership or obtaining a recommendation letter takes time, so make contact at the start of your planning. The document does not list which chambers or associations count as “recognised”, so if in doubt, ask at the application centre.
