Prep sheet
Once a booking session starts you have only 15 minutes. Gathering what you need in advance, checking your passport validity and rehearsing once makes it much less likely you get stuck.
This page has nothing to do with the IVAC portal. We do not ask for your login or passport number, we store nothing, and we do nothing on the portal for you. Whatever you type or tick here stays on your own phone.
What to know about the session
- Booking session limit
- Once you click “Book Your Appointment” you must finish the whole booking within 15 minutes — Webfile upload, centre, date and payment all included. When time runs out the blocked slot is released and you must start again.
- Applicants per login
- The sources disagree. IVAC’s “Do’s and Don’ts” page says up to 5 people per login, but the appointment portal FAQ (effective 16 August 2026) says up to 4 — 1 primary and 3 secondary applicants. The FAQ is newer, so planning for 4 is the safe course — that is our advice, not a written rule.
Verification pending — This could not be confirmed yet — the sources disagree, or it appeared only in press reporting. Check the source before relying on it.
- Slot assignment
- Per the appointment portal FAQ (effective 16 August 2026) you select a centre, then pick an available date from a calendar. Slots for the next two weeks open on Thursday (or the last working day of the week), subject to availability. Booking runs Sunday–Thursday 12:00–17:00 and Saturday 10:00–12:00. You cannot book for the same day.
- Processing fee
- BDT 1,500 (all inclusive), effective 10 August 2025. The Government of India charges Bangladeshi nationals no visa fee — IVAC charges only this processing fee.
- Changing a booking
- Once a booking is confirmed it cannot be rescheduled, cannot be cancelled and cannot be transferred to another person. To submit on another day you must make a new booking.
Check your passport validity
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from the day you submit. Enter two dates to check. Neither date is saved anywhere.
This is our calculation: the “6 months” requirement is from the official document, and we count calendar months, not 180 days. If you are right at the limit, leave a few days of margin to be safe.
- Passport validity
- At least 6 months validity from the date of submission
Check your Webfile’s age
A Webfile (the PDF of the online application) older than 30 days is not accepted when you book. Enter the date it was generated and the date you expect to book. Neither date is saved anywhere.
This is our reading: the FAQ does not say up to which date the 30 days are counted, so we count the age on the day you book, not the appointment date. If you are right at the limit, leave a day or two of margin to be safe.
- Webfile validity
- A Webfile (the PDF of the online application) older than 30 days is not accepted when you book an appointment. If the application contains wrong information you must fill a fresh one and generate a new Webfile; altering a Webfile can lead to rejection.
Keep these within reach on booking day
- Sign-up details
- Signing up on the portal needs: mobile number and email (both verified by OTP), given name and surname, passport number, NID or citizenship number, and date of birth. These must match the Primary Webfile data.
- Payment methods
- The methods shown on the payment gateway are accepted — credit or debit card, mobile financial services (MFS), internet banking and Bangla QR. Payment must finish inside the 15-minute booking session, and the booking is confirmed only after a successful payment.
The list below is the common requirements, the same for every visa type. For the extra documents your visa type adds, go to the “Visa types” page.
Document checklist
What you tick stays on your own phone — nothing is sent anywhere, and no login is needed.
What everyone needs
The original passport, with at least six months of validity as on the date of submission, and at least two blank pages.
Why it is asked for, and where people slip
The six months are counted from the day you submit, not the day you travel — working from the travel date is where people most often come up short. The two blank pages must be genuinely blank; pages carrying stamps do not count.
- Passport validity
- At least 6 months validity from the date of submission
- Blank pages
- The passport must have at least 2 blank pages
Old passports must be submitted with the application form.
Why it is asked for, and where people slip
It is easy to leave an expired passport at home once the new one arrives, but the official list makes it mandatory — dig it out and bring it. The document does not say what to do if an old passport is lost or unavailable, so you will need to ask at the centre.
One recent passport-size colour photograph (2×2 inch), on a white background, showing the full face.
Why it is asked for, and where people slip
2×2 inch means 51×51 mm — square. Many blogs quote 45×35 mm, but that is the specification for the reverse case: Indians applying for Bangladeshi visas. On the number of copies, both the High Commission document and IVAC’s documents page say one. The photo is uploaded with the online application, and IVAC’s page gives its size as 2×2 (350×350 pixels). IVAC’s page also says the photo must be “not less than 3 months old” — read literally that means at least 3 months old, which is probably not the intent. We do not settle it by guessing; a recently taken photo is the safe choice.
- Photo size
- 2×2 inch (51×51 mm), square, white background, full face visible
- Photo pixel size
- IVAC’s page describes the photo uploaded with the online application as 2×2 (350×350 pixels).
- Number of photos
- One colour photograph — both the High Commission’s official document and IVAC’s “Kind of Visas & Documents” page say one. Two copies are sometimes mentioned, but we found that in no official source.
- Photo file
- jpg or png, maximum 2 MB
A copy of the National ID Card OR the Birth Certificate, whichever applies.
Why it is asked for, and where people slip
The spelling of your name must match the passport exactly. A mismatch between the ID and the passport is one of the biggest reasons applications come back — put the two side by side and compare before you apply.
A copy of the electricity bill OR gas bill OR landline telephone bill. The document adds, in brackets, “not less than 6 months old”.
Why it is asked for, and where people slip
Mobile phone bills are not on the list — only landline. And the bracketed condition is ambiguous: “not less than 6 months old” literally means the bill must be at least six months old, whereas conditions like this usually ask for something recent. The official document says nothing further, so we are not going to guess at which reading is intended — if you can, carry both a recent bill and one from six months ago.
The document reads: (i) a bank statement for the last six months showing sufficient funds, (ii) an endorsement of foreign currency equivalent to US$150 per applicant (the endorsement must not be older than three months at the time of submission) OR a copy of an international credit card or travel card.
Why it is asked for, and where people slip
Read this requirement carefully. The 2024 document numbers the bank statement separately as (i), which can be read as requiring both the statement and the endorsement. The High Commission's earlier version (2021) listed all three as alternatives joined by “OR”. The document does not settle which reading now applies — the safe course is to bring the bank statement, since it satisfies either reading.
One of the following, depending on your profession.
Why it is asked for, and where people slip
You need the one document that matches your profession — the list offers no option for homemakers, the unemployed or freelancers, so ask at the centre in those cases. The student visa list additionally accepts a salary slip in place of the employer's certificate for private-sector employees.
15-minute rehearsal
Keep your documents within reach, start the timer, and see whether you can state or write out everything in time. The timer is for practice only — it has no connection to the portal, opens nothing and fills in nothing.
Time left:
Time is up. On the real portal the session would be cancelled here — notice what took time to find, and keep it within reach beforehand.Questions about the Webfile and booking
- What is a Webfile, and where do I get one?The PDF generated when you successfully submit the online visa application is the Webfile. You need it to book an appointment.
- How long does a Webfile stay valid?30 days. A Webfile older than 30 days is not accepted when you book an appointment.
- What details does portal sign-up need, and why must they match?Mobile, email, name, passport number, NID and date of birth — all must match the Primary Webfile, and they are hard to change later.
- Can I reschedule, cancel or transfer an appointment? No. Once a booking is confirmed it cannot be rescheduled, cancelled or transferred.
