What extra document is needed for admission to a medical college in India?

An NOC from the Ministry of Health.

In detail

Alongside the usual student visa papers, admission to a medical college requires a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Health. The condition applies to medical colleges only, not to other subjects.

One thing worth knowing: this requirement was added in the High Commission's 2024 document and was not in the earlier 2021 edition. Older blog posts, and the experience of people who applied before, may not mention it. Quiet changes like this are exactly what catch applicants out.

The NOC takes time, so apply for it as soon as your admission (bonafide) letter arrives. You will also need bank solvency papers for your guarantor, which banks take a few days to issue — starting both at once saves time.
