What counts as proof of residence?
A copy of the electricity, gas or landline telephone bill. Mobile phone bills are not on the list.
In detail
The document gives three options: a copy of the electricity bill, the gas bill, or the landline telephone bill. Any one of them will do.
Two things are worth noting. First, mobile phone bills are not on the list — only landline. Many households no longer have a landline, which in practice makes the electricity or gas bill the easiest route.
Second, the requirement carries a bracketed condition: “not less than 6 months old”. The wording is ambiguous: read literally it means the bill must be at least six months old, whereas conditions like this usually ask for something recent. The official document offers no further explanation, and we are not going to guess at which reading is intended. If you can, carry both a recent bill and one from six months ago, so you are covered either way.
